Showcasing how international education is engaging Saint Mary’s aspiring citizens of the world!

International Education Week is an annual celebration held in more than 100 nations around the world each year to highlight the important role that international education plays in fostering global citizenship. Every year, the Global Learning and Intercultural Support Office hosts SMU’s IEW to celebrate international and intercultural education opportunities on campus and around the world for SMU students, faculty, and staff.

    Metaponto Field School

    Join Dr. Sveva Savelli to learn about this field school in Basilicata, Italy, which includes archaeological excavations at the Iron Age Indigenous site of Incoronata “greca” (Pisticci), a site eventually incorporated into the territory of the Greek city of Metaponto.

    Villa of Titus Archaeological Field School

    Join Dr. Myles McCallum to hear about an archaeological study of a 2,200-year-old rural complex that may once have been a residence of the Flavian Emperor Titus: the Villa of Titus excavation in Castel Sant’Angelo, Italy.

13th Annual Stories from Overseas

Study abroad participants and friends share their reflections from home and abroad using Story Circles. This format has been piloted around the world by UNESCO to foster intercultural competencies. Join us to share your stories and to practice listening for understanding.
