Our goal is to help you become a better thinker and writer. Tutoring helps you understand how to strengthen your writing now and in the future.
Please note: The writing centre does not edit or proofread student papers.
Drop-in Writing Tutorials (20-min)
Tuesdays, 4 - 6 p.m. | Wednesdays, 10 a.m - 12 p.m. | Burke 115 (The Writing Centre)
Drop-in writing and academic communication tutorials are a great way to see how our Writing Tutors can help you improve your academic work. If you would prefer an online session, you will receive a Teams or Zoom link. The appointments are available on a first-come, first-served basis, so use the sign-up sheet when you arrive at the Writing Centre.

Study Hall
Thursdays, 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. | LI 135
Study Hall is an open space for you to:
Connect with other students and staff from the Writing Centre, Student Success Centre, and Library.
Learn about and access academic supports and resources.
Discuss strategies for upcoming assignments and exams.
Gather in an open, supported space for you to work, write, and study.
Study Hall follows a flexible schedule to meet your needs, with space for discussion periods, independent work periods, and designated breaks.

The centre’s tutors will work with you to:
• Brainstorm and outline content
• Develop and determine a direction for your paper or assignment.
• Strengthen your paper or assignment.
• Identify reoccurring grammatical errors or structural problems.
• Understand academic integrity and citation styles.
• Work on your presentation and oral communication skills
• Help with PowerPoint and document formatting.

• Your assignment instructions or question(s)
• A copy of your writing (if available)
• Any notes or previously marked assignments, as this may facilitate the tutor’s understanding of your specific needs
• Specific questions or specific areas that you feel need improvement - if you don't know, that’s okay!

• All appointments must be cancelled at least 24 hours in advance to allow for other students to book
• Failure to appear for a booked appointment will result in a warning and after three no shows, you will not be able to access the Writing Centre tutoring services for a month.
