Our goal is to help you become a better thinker and writer. Tutoring helps you understand how to strengthen your writing now and in the future.

Please note: The writing centre does not edit or proofread student papers.

Drop-in Writing Tutorials (20-min)

Tuesdays, 4 - 6 p.m. | Wednesdays, 10 a.m - 12 p.m. | Burke 115 (The Writing Centre)

Drop-in writing and academic communication tutorials are a great way to see how our Writing Tutors can help you improve your academic work. If you would prefer an online session, you will receive a Teams or Zoom link. The appointments are available on a first-come, first-served basis, so use the sign-up sheet when you arrive at the Writing Centre.

Study Hall

Thursdays, 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. | LI 135

Study Hall is an open space for you to:

    • Connect with other students and staff from the Writing Centre, Student Success Centre, and Library.

    • Learn about and access academic supports and resources.

    • Discuss strategies for upcoming assignments and exams.

    • Gather in an open, supported space for you to work, write, and study.

Study Hall follows a flexible schedule to meet your needs, with space for discussion periods, independent work periods, and designated breaks.

» What should I not expect during a tutorial?

The centre does not:

  • Proofread or edit papers
  • Comment on the content
  • Comment on a graded paper
  • Comment on a professor or instructor
  • Offer suggested grades for a paper or assignment

» How long do tutorials last?

A scheduled appointment is 50 minutes.

A drop-in appointment is 20 minutes.
